What a great web site - I will pass it on to everyone I can. I truly feel education is the key to organ shortage and so I certainly hope efforts like this can help people better understand the process and the dire need to make a change in the way we do things.

I just wanted to let you know that your story really touched my heart. My father has MS and was diagnosed more than 10 years ago. He is now almost 43 and approaching the age that his mother died of MS. I am his oldest daughter, 21 years old and still worry that he is going to miss out on our family's big events. I have a 2 year old daughter- his first grandchild, and I am going to be married exactly 1 year from now. If there was any way that I could save my dad from this terrible disease I would, but sadly there is no cure. I am blood type O- and have donated blood and plasma for free many times because I know that my blood is acceptable to every blood type. I try to help as many people as I can, because although I was blessed with having the universallly acceptable blood type, I am at the same time cursed by the fact that if I were to need blood, there are very few people who are O- and that is the only type of blood that I can accept. Hopefully by showing people the kindness in my heart, if I am ever in that sort of situation there will be people who are willing to help me. I am getting more information on the kidney donation process, and am further inspired by a previous teacher of mine who donated a kidney to her student's father. I pray that Trish survives this, and If there is any way that I can help your mother, I will.

The Kidney Matchmaker

Visit this wonderful Web site created by Chaya Lipschutz, who donated a kidney to a stranger in 2005.  There is a tremendous amount of information for potential donors.

Thank you, Chaya for all your help!
